My very first quilt

Can you believe it?? 😀 LOL

I had it all cut and ready but I couldn’t find a good opportunity to sit and sew.  As you know I have 2 toddler helpers and having needles and pins all over the house wasn’t a very good idea with my helpers around.  So it took a long time for me to finally make it.  Once I started, it was pretty quick.  It actually took me about 2 hours from laying it out to finishing the last stitch.

Now, because I was in a hurry to finish everything while my kids were napping, there are tons of mistakes on this quilt.  And the experienced quilters among you will notice them right away. 😀  But it’s my first attempt and I’m totally hooked now.  I can’t wait to make more and practice.  If you have any tips, please do let me know.  Or if you know of a good video/instruction website, please let me know 😀

As for this first attempt, I’m sure it will be put to a good use by my helpers.  They already spilled some orange juice on it yesterday 😀 haha  It will also be good for camping and playing on the grass this summer.

  1. I love your first quilt. It’s something I have always wanted to try but I haven’t gotten around too. I bet the little ones will love it.

    • Thank you 🙂 I was so excited while making it. I just wanted to see it ready right away haha
It comes with time. One day you will wake up and think: “this is the day I make a quilt”. LOL That’s what happened with me.

    • I couldn’t agree more. It’s super addictive. After I finished the big quilt, I had some little pieced left and I made a smaller one right away. Now I have a long list of what I want to make next. LOL

  2. Your first quilt is so adorable! If you’re looking for videos, search Youtube for Missouri Star quilt company…Jenny Doan has a ton of excellent videos. I just finished my first quilt too.

    • Thank you. I absolutely agree 😀 I enjoyed making it so I guess that’s what matters 😀 And I’m motivated to make many more. So we’ll see what happens.

  3. Love you quilt. Great job. Those are not errors! They are design elements. I know how addictive quilting can be. I started with a table runner last Oct. and now I am making a 45×60 inch small quilt. lol
I also watch quilting on Youtube and there is some free ones on Craftsy.
    Happy quilting!

    • Thank you 🙂 Yes, design elements! Exactly! 😀 I’m going to use this one. LOL
But of course Craftsy!! I forgot about it. Thank you for reminding me.
I’ve been thinking about making a table runner too. Good for you continuing to make quilts. It’s amazing when you see a pile of fabric become something so adorable. Then you can’t stop making it. 😀

  4. Charming! I’ve always admired quilts and the talented folks who make them, but I haven’t yet made the leap from knitting to sewing on a regular basis. Maybe it’s time to dip my toe in.
