My first official pattern

Here it is! 🙂  The pattern for the Reflection Cable Headband Cowl is finally finished.  If any of you happen to make this headband cowl following the pattern, please send me your feedback.  I’d love to make improvements and take your recommendations in consideration. Thank you! 🙂

Description
2 cables running side by side in the middle with linen stitch as border on both sides. It’s knit in one piece and then the beginning and end are sewn together to make a loop. The length can be adjusted to desirable size. The width allows for the headband to become a cowl when necessary. Ideal for runners and people who exercise outdoors.

Gauge
10cm (17 rows) x 10cm (12 sts)
(or the gauge of the yarn you are using)

Needles
US Size 10.5 – 11

Yarn Used
Lumio Fine by Schachenmayr Original in Pine colour.

Cast on 28 sts
Row 1 (RS): Knit
Row 2 (WS): Purl
Row 3: K1, sl1 wyif, K1, sl1 wyif, K1, sl1 wyif, P1; K6; P2; K6; P1, sl1 wyif, K1, sl1 wyif, K1, sl1 wyif, K1.
Row 4: Sl1 wyib, P1, sl1 wyib, P1, sl1 wyib, P1; K1; P6; K2; P6; K1; P1, sl1 wyib, P1, sl1 wyib, P2.
Row 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 and 10 same as Row 3 and 4 alternating.
Row 11: K1, sl1 wyif, K1, sl1 wyif, K1, sl1 wyif, P1; place first 3 sts on a cable needle or safety pin, slip the next 3 sts onto the right needle behind the first 3 sts, then slip the 3 sts from the cable needle on the right needle (see pic. 1); P2; place first 3 sts on a cable needle or safety pin, slip the next 3 sts onto the right needle in front of the first 3sts, then slip the 3 sts from the cable needle on the right needle (see pic. 1); P1, sl1 wyif, K1, sl1 wyif, K1, sl1 wyif, K1.
Row 12: Sl1 wyib, P1, sl1 wyib, P1, sl1 wyib, P1; K1; P6; K2; P6; K1; P1, sl1 wyib, P1, sl1 wyib, P2.

Note: The idea is to twist one cable in one direction and the other cable in the opposite direction.

Very important observation by Cricketfox of Cricket’s Corner of Australia (Thanks for pointing that out!), make sure your yarn is quite loose when knitting the linen stitch.  It can get very tense if you don’t loosen up the yarn.

Repeat rows 1 to 12 until you have your desired length.

Bind off and sew the end and beginning together.
